In fall 2008, the Houston Food Bank merged with End Hunger Network, a Houston-area food rescue organization, thus making more effective use of community resources by working together as one.
In fiscal year 2016-2017, the Houston Food Bank distributed 83,000,000 nutritious meals.
The vision for the future is to expand service to the community to 100,000,000 nutritious meals by 2018.
Every dollar donated to the Houston Food Bank provides three meals for an individual.
Share Your Holidays
Share Your Holidays benefits the Houston Food Bank, which is America’s largest food bank. The Houston Food Bank distributes to its network of 600 hunger relief charities. These charities encompass 18 southeast Texas counties, feeding 137,000 people each week.
This drive is important after the effects Hurricane Harvey had on Houston and surrounding communities. More than 30,000 families are still without a home. With the holidays approaching, they will need food and help to make it through this time of need. Walker Texas Lawyer and the Walker Law Firm stand behind our community. We believe that Houston Strong is more than just a phrase, its a way of life. If we all do our part as family, friends and neighbors, we can feed every hungry Houstonian this holidays season.
Mark your calendar for the 37th annual ABC13’s Share Your Holidays Food Drive happening November 24 – December 10. Donate to the Red Barrel in your local grocery store, then watch ABC13 on Friday, December 8th for all-day coverage.
Our office at 3100 Timmons Lane, Houston, TX, will be one of many donation locations. Here you can donate items that are most needed by Houston families. Items needed include: Canned meat, poultry, fish, and peanut butter. Also canned fruits, veggies, cereal, soups, pasta, dry beans, rice and more are needed.
