It’s that time of year again!
The leaves are changing color, the air is crisp and cool, and Halloween is just around the corner. But this year is different. With the ongoing pandemic, many of the traditional ways we celebrate Halloween may not be possible or safe. So, what can you do to make sure you still have a fun and safe holiday? Here are a few tips and tricks.
The first step to having a safe Halloween is to plan ahead. If you’re going to be out Trick-or-Treating, make sure you have a route mapped out in advance. Stick to well-lit areas that you’re familiar with, and avoid shortcuts through alleyways or deserted parks. It’s also a good idea to trick-or-treat with a friend or family member if possible.
Wear the Right Costume
Your costume should be easy to see and easy to move in. If your child’s costume is dark colored or includes a lot of fabric that hangs down low, consider adding some reflective tape or stripes so they’ll be more visible to cars. It’s also important to make sure their costume doesn’t include any loose strings or other hazards that could cause them to trip and fall. And of course, always make sure they can see clearly out of their masks!
Be Smart With Your Treats
You may be tempted to eat all your candy at once, but resist the urge! Inspect all your candy before eating it, and discard anything that looks like it may have been tampered with. Wait until you get home to sort through your loot so an adult can check it first. And if you’re handing out candy this year, only give out individually wrapped items that are commercially packaged.
With a little planning and common sense, you can still have a fun and safe Halloween this year! By following these tips, you can enjoy the holiday while keeping yourself and others healthy. Happy Halloween from everyone here at Walker Texas Lawyer!
